Internationale conferenties @ UK
Hierbij attenderen we je op weer 4 (internationale) conferenties dit jaar. In dit geval gebundeld vanuit hun locatie, lekker dicht bij huis, in de UK. Vier verschillende onderwerpen, vier verschillende aanbieders. (op volgorde van datum)
Museumnext vindt plaats van 18 tot 20 juni in Newcastle/Gateshead. Vorig jaar mochten we Museumnext in Amsterdam ontvangen en ook dit jaar blijven ze dus nog even dicht bij huis. Zoals museumnext in eigen woorden zegt:
“EUROPE’S BIG CONFERENCE ON INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY IN MUSEUMS. Now in its sixth year MuseumNext looks to bring together the leading themes, trends and related best practice with the aim of providing a clear insight into how innovation and technology are shaping our institutions and the world around us. Through our events we encourage new thinking and create a platform to discuss ‘what next?'” Meer info via de conference website.
Open Culture 2014 is vrijwel direct volgend op Museumnext, op 25 en 26 juni in Londen. Open culture is een jaarlijkse conferentie georganiseerd vanuit Collections Link, wat weer gestuurd wordt door Collections Trust. Het onderwerp is minder ‘hip’ dan bij de hiervoor genoemde, maar voor de professional zeker net zo belangrijk: “In a time of increasing pressure on museum, archive and library services, we must ensure we are putting our collections to work. This year’s OpenCulture focuses on practical ways the collections community can deliver impact, value and sustainability for their organisations.” Het programma is in grote lijnen al uitgezet en beslaat ten minste vier disciplines; Digital, Collection, (Risk) Management en Informatic Skills. Digital heritage 2014 is geen groots opgezette internationale conferentie, maar wel even het benoemen waard. De eendaagse conference vindt plaats op 12 juli en wordt georganiseerd door the Centre for Digital Heritage. “The Centre for Digital Heritage is an international multi-institutional research centre focussed on innovative inter-disciplinary research in the field of Digital Heritage. The centre includes Aarhus University, Leiden University, Uppsala University and The University of York.” Wellicht niet groots opgezet, maar dus zeker wel internationaal georiënteerd. Het thema van dit jaar is ‘Digital Communities in Action’ en de call for papers is nog open. Zie de conferentiesite voor meer informatie.
Over The Museums Association Conference and Exhibition is op dit moment nog niet heel veel informatie te geven, omdat de conferentie site nog niet in de lucht is. Wel kunnen we alvast melden dat de conferentie plaats vindt op 9 en 10 oktober in Cardiff. Of de aankondiging “Returning to Cardiff for the first time in 17 years, the conference will have a strong Welsh flavour, celebrating the best of the nations museums, food, language and culture” betekent dat ook het programma nationaal gericht is, kunnen we helaas niet voorspellen.
